Howard Ho is a Chinese-American playwright and composer. He is a 2024 winner of the Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival for his play BEETHOVEN’S THIRD. His one-act play PARITY was performed in Pan Asian Rep’s NuWorks Festival in 2024. His full-length play RESET was produced at Moving Arts in 2023 and was an O'Neill National Playwrights Finalist and a Bay Area Playwrights Semifinalist. Other works include VARIOUS EMPORIA (2017 O’Neill Finalist), WHERE I’M FROM (Samuel French OOB Finalist), END OF THE LINE (Samuel French OOB Finalist, currently licensed by MTI), JIE JIE (Best of the Best of PlayGround 2024), and PRETENDO (CTG Library Reading Series). WHERE I’M FROM was featured in Center Theatre Group’s Community Stories and is being developed into a full-length musical. He’s been a member of writers groups at Playground-NY, Moving Arts, The Vagrancy, Playground-LA, and Company of Angels. His sound design credits include the Off-Broadway production of Pan Asian Rep’s MY MAN KONO. He has sound designed over 50 shows and earned multiple nominations from the Ovation Award in Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle. His journalism has been published in Entertainment Weekly, LA Times, Howlround, and American Theatre magazine. He holds degrees from UCLA and USC.
